We (husband,baby and I) are relocating to Guatemala city for an year. Does zone 12 has safe residential area? Kindly suggest tips to keep safe in Guatemala city.

Zona 12 isn't generally thought of as safe. I have read in newspapers of gas attendants being shot. I have had no trouble there during the day. I go to church in Zona 12. There are many new areas in Zona 12 that have nice homes that are new - I assume that security is taken care of there. Short answer: Depends where you live in Zona 12.

Safer areas are Zona 15, 16, 17, and San Cristobal in some areas.
