Benjamin:

Guatemala is not very organized, but here's what I would suggest. I would find out what town he was born in and contact that "municipalidad" or municipality and ask them to look up his name. With that, you can find out if he has any vehicles registered, and if he has kept his address current if he's moved, or if he hasn't moved, you may be able to track him down that way.

Another way would be to find out any acquaintances he had in his hometown and ask around. Try to get in touch with a mayor or leader in the community, or the local Catholic church may have some kind of confirmation or baptism records.

All of this requires actually being present and even then, it is unlikely that these government agencies would give you this info without a little $$$ under the table. However, it can be done.

If any other readers can provide more detailed information, we welcome your input.
