Relief geography is an important part of physical sciences in Guatemala and Guatemala City. It's studied at local universities and implemented frequently due to the diverse geography of Guatemala. As a result, these organizations make Guatemala City relief maps available to the public at varying intervals.

Guatemala City has a unique exhibit in Zona 2 of the city. In Minerva Park (Parque Minerva) is a huge raised relief map of the whole region of Guatemala and Belize. This map region illustration was created in 1904 by Francisco Vela and his assistant Claudio Urrutia. This large map showing this territory is the only one of its kind in the world.
