This book has an entertaining approach when it educates and informs the readers about the unique Mexican culture and rituals during the annual day of the dead. Brandes’ book has illustrated and captured the highlights of this festival which has come in diverse forms. The plots, origins, rituals, and the whole festivity are very well-written that makes this book even easier to read.

What I enjoy most when reading this book is that it highlights most of the interesting part of the festivity. The colorful pictures are a great help as you can picture out how beautiful and festive the scenes are during this annual celebration. The book also included revealing photographs of the fascinating rituals that made me realize how diverse and interesting the culture and practices. I also learned to appreciate the culture differences and changes from the pan-Roman Catholic All Saints’ and Soul’s days to the Mexican version of a spectacular festivity.

I highly recommend this book especially if you want to know more about the Mexican culture. You will get to understand why they are sincere on their religious rituals that have made their culture richer. This book is entertaining and at the same time informative as it educates you into a different episode of a different culture.
