Luis San Vicente did a wonderful job creating this 32 pages handcover of the day of the dead in Mexico. This little book is intended for children 4 to 8 years old as it help them learn about the different Mexican tradition of the festival of the bones. Mexico’s day of the dead has fascinated a lot of people because of the joyful and colorful tradition but not so much for the children. However, Luis San Vicente made the illustrations interesting for the children as he included skeletons that rock, rattle, and roll. He also made the essay and descriptions short and fun while explaining the important Mexican holiday.

This book is intended for young readers who are interested in learning the different but rich Mexican tradition of celebrating the day of the dead. The children will enjoy the playfulness of the characters as it illustrates the holiday’s merriment. The handcover has shown children that the departed are happy and that they should not be afraid of them.
